Gold And Diamond Car Key Costs More Than A Rolls-Royce Phantom!

Car keys have evolved a lot in the past few years, but they usually don’t get much attention. A company named Awain wants to change that by introducing “the world’s most expensive and exclusive line of luxury supercar keys.”

Designed to replace your old “boring” stuff, Awain keys are handcrafted in Finland by a team of craftsmen who include watchmakers, jewelers and mechanical engineers. The process of building a key takes between 100-300 hours, and it’s not hard to see why.

Customers can order three different types of keys, and the most affordable is the Quantum line which starts at €49,000 ($55,166 / £42,260). That’s more than most mainstream vehicles, but the key features a leather or wood interior section which is surrounded by 18- or 24-karat gold. The key also boasts 354 diamonds, which total 3.45 carats.

The Serenity is largely identical, but starts at €89,000 ($100,209 / £76,749) and has 1,250 diamonds totaling 20 carats. If that’s too plebeian for your tastes, the Phantom costs €500,000 ($562,925 / £431,147) and has 34.5 carats of diamonds.

Unsurprisingly, they’re not made for mass-market vehicles, as the approved list of brands includes Aston Martin, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Maserati, McLaren, Mercedes, Porsche and Rolls-Royce. Audi and BMW are notably absent from the list, but the company suggests owners contact their so-called key concierge to see if they can help.

The idea of spending more money on a Phantom key than an actual Rolls-Royce Phantom sounds insane. Still, Awain CEO Jalmari Mattila said that “as a passionate car enthusiast myself, I believe that the very best cars in the world deserve the very best keys, and our pieces really make a statement of excellence.” He went on to describe the keys as an ideal item for “supercar owners who will accept nothing short of an unparalleled luxury experience.”
